I just want to suggest the dimension for banner, maybe you can use 1134x329px PNG image.

I'm working on it 
now we're using the banners of the contest from some month ago and they're all sized 1000x288 because that is the size for the official site banner, they will be replaced with new banners based on SnK the anime, because this month is dedicated to this anime series (probably it's going to change monthly and maybe there will be a regular contest too, if we've enough active members willing to make banners and backgrounds).
